How To Get Rid of Bed Bugs?
Bed bugs are a menace and adapt very well to their surroundings. Chemical-only treatments will kill some bugs, but it is very difficult to achieve a complete kill of an infestation. Products like PT Alpine, Crossfire, Temprid FX and other pyrethrins are certainly useful against battling bed bugs but require months of re-applications, thorough and regular vacuuming, laundry, and patience. The three biggest concerns with commiting to use DIY Sprays with expectations of a complete eradication are:
1.) Over-application of product and faciliating the surviving bugs to develop a future posterity that is almost completely immune to pesticides.
2.) Inability to consistently kill bed bug eggs. Spray products are regulated heavily by the FDA to prevent another DDT epidemic from happening. Modern spray products are not strong to destroy bed bug eggs with any degree of consistency.
3.) High likelihood of failing the treatment and needing to start from scratch. All of the thoroughness and attention to detail required to achieve a complete kill of bed bugs with spray-only treatments is a lot for even an established pest control company to execute, let alone a family going through their first bed bug situation.
Residual liquid spray products still have an extremely part in bed bug extermination, but the chances of achieving a complete kill of bed bugs is dramatically lower when they are used as the primary extermination option.
So, what else can you use in combination with residual liquid sprays to get rid of bed bugs in your home once and for all?
About Dry Heat Treatment
Exterminating bed bugs with heat treatments is the only guaranteed method to get rid of bed bugs. Bed bugs cannot survive internal temperatures above 127 degrees. We use large heater fans to get temperatures up to 130-135 degrees to ensure all areas in your rooms are heated properly.
Heat Treatment Equipment
- Large heater fan (fueled by propane)
- Heat Ducts that direct the heat to targeted areas
- Propane tank
- Small fans that push the hot air around
- Infared thermometer
Heat Treatment Process
We place the heater in a doorway, run the duct work into each room and let the heat do its thing. We check on the room every 5-10 minutes to ensure the heat is being properly distributed and temperatures are lethal. The process can take anywhere from 2-8 hours, depending on the size of the home and level of infestation.
Bed Bug Chemicals
In rare cases, bed bugs can tuck away in a spot that doesn’t get quite hot enough. Our chemical is safe for people and animals once dry and will kill/stop the growth of bed bugs in all stages. Simply put, if there any stragglers after the heat treatment, chemicals can effectively finish the job.
